Who we are

SDB logo

We, the Salesians of Don Bosco [SDB], are an international organization of men dedicated full time to the service of young people, especially those who are poorer and disadvantaged.

Wherever we work, ‘Youth Resource Development’ through education and evangelization is the focus of all our concern – because we believe that our total dedication to the young is our best gift to humanity. See videos and reports on our worldwide mission.

Founded by St. John Bosco, an Italian saint-educator of the nineteenth century, we are in 128 different nations. ANS is the worldwide communication agency of the Salesian Congregation that covers news in 6 languages. BIS India is a nodal agency of ANS. And the Chennai Province is one of the 12 provinces in South Asia region in which BIS INM – Bosco Information Service, Chennai covers the life and activities of North Tamil Nadu in particular.

This official website of Chennai Salesian community gives you a glimpse into what we do, how we do it and why we believe what we do is worth living and dying for. International Code for the province of Chennai is INM. (IN-India and M-Madras, now Chennai).

The head and President of Chennai Province is the Provincial, with Rectors (House Heads) representing Don Bosco in the local houses.
