An International Conference on Mathematical Applications in Engineering and Technology (ICMA-2017) was organized by the PG and Research Department of Mathematics, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur on 27th and 28th of January, 2017 in collaboration with Academy of Discrete Mathematics (ADMA) and IIR Journals under the leadership of Dr. G. Britto Antony Xavier, the Convener.
The objective of the conference was to bring experts and young researchers from around the globe on one technical platform for the exchange of concepts in pure and applied fields of mathematics. The conference attracted 512 participants from 18 countries and 186 papers which will be published in six international journals after plagiarism check and peer review. The Conference was a great moment of knowledge sharing and an opportunity for the students and research scholars of our institution to interact with Mathematicians and research scholars around the world.
Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, in his inaugural address, highlighted the role of Mathematics in every field and the duty of every student to take up research. The conference gained momentum with the invited talk given by Dr. Sandra Pinelas, Military Academy, Portugal, and parallel sessions of paper presentations with eminent mathematicians as Chair Persons for each session. The other resource persons for the day were Dr. E.Thandapani, RIASM, University of Madras., Dr. Pankaj Srivastava, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad and Dr. Javid Ali, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. The second day started with the same pattern with invited talks given by Dr. P. Veeramani, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Dr. Vengatesh, Presidency University, Bangalore and Dr. Clement King, King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia. The conference came to an end with the valediction programme presided over by Rev. Dr. C. Antony Raj, the Rector in which he insisted on a scientific and research atmosphere in all higher education institutes and the felicitation address offered by Dr. Clement King. The programme also included feedback from the participants, distribution of certificates and formal vote of thanks by the convener.
