Awareness Workshop on ``Substance Abuse & Addiction`` @ SIGA Polytechnic College  by Paul Raj
    Chennai, Oct. 9. 2017 Niraivagam, Don Bosco Institute of Psychological Services in
    collaboration with SIGA Polytechnic College, Kilpauk conducted a half day workshop on ``Substance Abuse & Addiction`` for I, II and III year students of the college on 22 nd September 2017.
    The program began with the short inauguration presided over by Rev. Fr. Charles, SDB on behalf of Principal of the College Rev. Fr. P. T. Joseph and Fr. Paul Raj, the Director of Niraivagam.

    Mrs. Sheeba and Mr. Mukesh from TTk, Adayar were the resource persons for the workshop. During the interactive session the resource persons dealt on the harmful effects of alcohol usage and other drugs.

    The workshop also highlighted the fact that drug and alcohol use are recognized as complex human behavior with varying patterns. It also emphasized the influence of other factors like family, Cinema, TV, Media, College and peer groups in sustaining the harmful practice of drug use.

    Finally, the session ended with a strong message on the right to say ``No to Tobacco & Alcohol.`` This workshop was an eye opener and created awareness among the students.
