72nd Independence Day


"The colours of freedom were carried with care, coated with pride, dipped in love, flying in glory and moments of freedom with shades of joy at Sacred Heart College on 15th, August 2018, at 8.30 a.m.
The college was celebrating the country's 72nd Independence Day to pay homage to our freedom fighters who laid down their lives as martyrs to build this strong and diverse nation. Students and staff thronged to exhibit their passion and respect for their country on the college premises.
    The key to freedom is education. The secret to a happy life is freedom and the secret to freedom is valour.

    Rev. Dr. C. Antonyraj, the Rector, Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antonyraj, the Principal, Rev. Dr. K.A.Maria Arockiaraj, the Additional Principal, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, the Vice Principal, along with the Salesian community, were present to exhibit their patriotism. The ceremony was initiated by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) performing contingent drill and was followed by the flag hoisting. Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, Principal while addressing the gathering said that, students should be responsible citizens and follow the path of Don Bosco.

    It is customary for the college to honour those who serve our college and as a mark of our appreciation this year, Mr. S. Jeyraju, the office Superintendent of our college, hoisted the national flag and delivered the Independence Day message with a vibrancy that thrilled the audience. He said that "The key to freedom is education" Sacred Heart College has been doing this wonderful task of educating the younger generation. Further, he said, "The secret to a happy life is freedom and the secret to freedom is valour." He wished everyone a happy Independence Day.

    Mr. M. Danapal, the Assistant, accepted the guard of honour and delivered his message. He said that students should concentrate on their studies and aim high for a better future.  The teachers and students should cooperate for a better teaching and learning experience. It was followed by the distribution of medals and certificates to the NCC cadets for their achievements at various levels.

    Thanks to the Reverend Fathers of the Salesian community, NCC officer Dr. K. Sivakumar, the Deans, the Heads of the departments, Staff and the public, who came in large numbers to celebrate the occasion, making it meaningful, depicting the unique traits of our country's Independence, striding with pride and joy!
