Twin celebrations to mark Annual Days


Although it was the fourth year of the functioning of Don Bosco Polytechnic College at Basin Bridge, this year is the first time the Annual Day is being celebrated in a grand manner. “Hence we decided to observe it as the official First Annual Day, on March 4, 2018, in our campus,” says Fr. James Bernard SDB, Principal, Don Bosco Polytechnic College. “It was the day of gratitude to thank several persons involved in various stages of initiating this college. ITI students and their parents joined the celebrations,” informs Fr. Bernard.

    It was also the Annual Day of St. Joseph’s Technical Institute, popularly known as Joe Tech ITI. Fr.Ashok Amaladoss, Principal of Joe Tech ITI presented the Annual Report of ITI. Fr. James Bernard, Principal of Don Bosco Polytechnic College presented the Annual Report for the Academic Year 2017-2018, recalling all the major events that lighted up in the holistic formation of the students.

    In both the events, all the students, their parents and teachers participated in full strength. “There were 500 students, 600 parents and 45 teachers present during the celebrations,” says Fr. Bernard. The Chief Guest was Fr. K. M. Jose, Provincial and the Guest of Honor was Mr. Neelakandan (former MLA of TVK Constituency, Chennai). The institutions felicitated Mr. Kaspar Lourdu (person who helped in all the Govt. approval processes), Mr. Janarthanan (a lawyer who helped in all the legal procedures to rectify the land issues) and Mr. Christopher (Construction Engineer and Proprietor of Sarcar Foundation).

    Many students involved themselves in various cultural programmes like Dances, Mime, etc. added color to the celebrations. Students received awards and prizes for the excellence in various disciplines (Academic Excellence, 100% Attendance, Subject Excellence, Proficiency in Practicals, Good Discipline, etc.). The parents who attended, also visited the various workshops and labs.
