Kalvi Solai

We have “Kalvi Solai” a cultural education center that cater to the cultural transformation of the younger generation.

’Kalvi Solai’ means an Oasis of Education. It is a center for education and culture situated at Tirupattur in Vellore district. The objective of this center is to animate all our lay collaborators in the field of education and to serve as a center of resource and research in the field of education and culture.

Situation

Our province lays a major emphasis on academic institutions (p.102). The quality of the service rendered through this mission is of utmost importance .
Mushrooming of educational institutions and academic bodies make it impossible that quality of education imparted is of the highest order. In order to meet the challenges posed by the stakeholders in education.

Vision statement

We, Salesians educators are committed to imparting quality education ensuring Holistic development of the individual staff,students,parents,……)

General objectives

a) To make KS a centre for research on quality education

b) To make KS a resource centre for animation of staff ,students and educational administrators

c) To evolve alternate methods of education

d) To encourage healthy practices among students

e) To constitute a body (Salesians assessment and reconition council –SARC) that will assess and recognize our academic institutions.

f) The Director of KS shoulkd be the head of the Education and Cuklture commission

g) Thwe Director of KS should deal with the problems arising in the fields of educational institution.

Lines of action

a) KS should be estabklished in a concenient place with a full time Salesian within two years

b) A documentation cell (Government orders ,legal documents, Policies of the government .etc.,)should be established in KS centre in two years .

c) The centre will frame the criteria to measure the quality of our institutions and grade them within three years.

d) To train the newly recruited teachers imn preventive systems and other Salesians traditions during summer before they are made permanent .

e) They will prepare staff to appear for education departmental Exams.

The members discussed in detail about the activities that are to be taken for the year 2006-2007. The Following Proposals were made

1. To collect the Bio -Data of staff (Teaching & Non Teaching )
2. To collect the particulars regarding the students
3. To conduct a certificate course to newly appointed teachers on Don Bosaco Educative method .
4. To collect all the G.O’s.regarding school matters
5. To publish news letter once in 3 mponths
6. To conduct seminars for staff members.
