More than 80 students from various Salesian school - St.Bede’s Anglo Indian Hr.Sec.School, Dominic Savio Matriculation School, St. Mary’s Anglo Indian Higher secondary school and non- Salesian school like Rosary Matriculation School, Montfort Academy and St.Mary’s Anglo Indian Hr.Sec.school, participated in the camp.
Prior to the summer classes the remedial staff of Niraivagam devised the entire plan to keep the children engaged in learning, by preparing appropriate worksheets and activities for the ten days of classes. The classes were held from 9 am to 12.30 pm. The remedial staff used multisensory learning methods to teach the basics in English. Tamil and Maths.
Brain gym exercises like squatting, cross croll, numbers walk, clap, punch method and lazy eight exercises were given by teachers daily, in order to boost memory and association of concepts with body movements and thus improved recalling. Students were provided with the worksheets and some activities every day, which would improve their memory, writing, and
reading skills.
On the final day the parents meeting was conducted to give the complete report of the children in the summer remedial classes and all the parents presented positive feedback regarding the organization of classes, teaching methods employed by the teachers and also the eagerness shown by their children towards the remedial classes organised by Niraivagam.
