Recognising the contribution of stalwarts in mental healthcare

The contribution of Niraivagam, Don Bosco Institute of Psychological Services to the Salesian Province of Chennai and to other educational institutions, was immense, as highlighted by Rev. Fr. Don Bosco Lourdusamy SDB, Vice-provincial, Chennai Province during his Special Address on Niraivagam Day 2017.

    Presided by the Chief Guest Dr. S. Karunanidhi, Prof. Head, Dept of Psychology, University of Madras, the Niraivagam Day 2017 and Award Ceremony were held November 12, 2017 in the DB College Premises at The Citadel, Chennai.  His keynote address was on Mental Health in Workplaces.

     

    The Vice Provincial gave away the Award for Lifetime contribution to Mental Health to Late. Dr. Prof. Krishnamoorthy Srinivas, received by Dr. Vijayakumar, Director – The Institute of Neurological Sciences, VHS Hospital on behalf of the late veteran. Dr. M. Ranganathan, Founder President, Family Fellowship Society for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services received the Award for  Excellence in Mental Health Service. The awardees in their responses were much appreciative of Salesians to start an institute that caters specifically to psychological needs of the young.
