In his introduction, Fr. Paul Raj, Director of Niraivagam, motivated everyone to actively participate in the workshop and get trained to apply CBT in specific issues in their counseling and therapeutic settings. In his keynote speech, Rev. Fr. Edwin George, Rector – Chennai Province emphasized the importance of the workshop.
The workshops on both days, handled by Mr. Thaddeus Alfonso, Assistant Director of Niraivagam focused on CBT in Anxiety and Depression and, themes like Cognitive Distortion, Cognitive Technique were explored through role plays and case studies. The 45 participants who attended the workshop were a good mixture of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Doctorate in Psychology, Research Scholars and Counselors from all parts of Tamil Nadu.
At the end of the second day Dr. Ranganathan, Founder President, Family Society for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services, delivered a lecture on the importance of psychological service in today’s world.
All the participants were given certificates of participation during the Niraivagam Day 2017 and Award Ceremony.
