Women’s Day at Basin Bridge


The Don Bosco Social Service Society (DBSSS) celebrated their 22nd Women’s Day at Don Bosco Polytechnic College, Basin Bridge on March 10, 2018. While the Chief Guest was Mrs. Kanimozhi, MP, the Guest of Honour was Mr. Kana Bala (Singer and poet).

    Over 2000 women from different Self Help Groups of DBSSS, participated in the event. These women were from different walks of life and lived and worked in several slum localities in and around Basin Bridge. The main organiser of the Women’s day celebrations was Fr. Johnson Anthonysamy, Director of DBSSS.

    “Mrs.Kanimozhi gave a beautiful motivational speech emphasising not to expect or take anything free, but to empower oneself with skills to earn a living and to educate the children,” informs Fr. James Bernard. Mr. Kana Bala sang two songs explaining the life of women in the family.

    Prizes were given to all the winners of different games and competitions. Several women also exhibited their talents with Dances and Songs
