The Salesian Youth Meet, held on 14 February 2026 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Perambur, was an evening vibrant with faith, culture, and youthful enthusiasm. Young people from the Chennai and Pondicherry regions gathered in large numbers to meet the Rector Major, Rev. Fr. Fabio Attard, SDB, in an atmosphere marked by joy, energy, and a deep sense of belonging.
A significant highlight of the visit was the Rector Major’s inauguration of the new Multi-purpose Don Bosco Hall at the Perambur campus. As he officially opened the doors to this modern facility, he dedicated it as a space for holistic growth, creativity, and community building. This new landmark stands as a testament to the Province's commitment to providing the young with the best possible environment to flourish and discover their talents.
Following the inauguration, the programme unfolded as a harmonious blend of prayer, cultural expression, and creative presentations, reflecting both the richness of Tamil heritage and the dynamism of the Salesian youth movement. Music, dance, drama, and traditional art forms filled the campus with colour and rhythm, revealing not only the talents of the young but also their rooted identity and confidence.
The defining moment of the evening was the Rector Major’s dialogue with the youth. Speaking with simplicity and fatherly warmth, he invited them to remain deeply rooted in faith while daring to serve generously. He reminded them that they are not merely beneficiaries of the Salesian mission, but active protagonists in building a better society. With conviction, he challenged them to dream courageously, live responsibly, and place their trust firmly in God.
Calling the young to greater maturity, he urged them to take responsibility for one another, to stand by their friends, and to seek help when needed without hesitation. Above all, he affirmed that the family spirit must define every Salesian presence. Each young person, he reminded them, is a child of God and deserves education, dignity, and loving care.
The youth listened with rapt attentiveness and responded with enthusiastic applause.
