INDIA – Seminar on Don Bosco's System of Education Renews the Mission of Salesian Educators in Tirupattur

Tirupattur, India, 1 August 2026 – Don Bosco Kalvi Solai, the Education and Culture Sector of the Salesian Province of Chennai (INM), organized a one-day Seminar on Don Bosco's System of Education at Don Bosco School of Excellence, Tirupattur. The programme brought together young Salesian educators and teachers from the Vellore and Tirupattur regions for formation and reflection on the relevance of Don Bosco's educational vision in today's context.

The seminar was inaugurated by Fr. Arokia Doss SDB, Director of Don Bosco Kalvi Solai, who welcomed the participants and invited them to rediscover Don Bosco's charism as the foundation of their educational ministry.

The day featured a series of formative sessions. Fr. Stalin Dhanaraj SDB reflected on the life and mission of Don Bosco and the importance of youth ministry in Salesian schools. Fr. Arokia Doss SDB presented the Preventive System, highlighting its three pillars—Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness—as the enduring foundation of holistic education. Fr. Kamalesh SDB explored the challenges and opportunities of accompanying young people in the age of Artificial Intelligence, while Fr. Yacop SDB examined the Preventive System from a psychological perspective, demonstrating its relevance to contemporary educational practice. Dr. Manickaswamy concluded the academic sessions with practical insights on the profile of a Smart Salesian Teacher and effective classroom management.

The participants were encouraged by the presence of Rev. Fr. Deva Joe SDB, Rector of the Don Rua Community, and Rev. Fr. K. J. Arulraj SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School of Excellence, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged the educators to continue their mission with renewed zeal.

The seminar concluded with the distribution of certificates, a vote of thanks, and a renewed commitment among the participants to live Don Bosco's educational charism in their schools. The programme reaffirmed that the Preventive System continues to be a relevant and effective way of educating and accompanying young people in the digital age.
