The Resplendent Inauguration of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations

A Momentous Overture

On the radiant morning of Friday, 18 September 2026, St. Mary's Catholic High School, Fujairah, unfurled the golden curtains upon a landmark chapter of its illustrious journey — the grand Inauguration of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations. From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the school resounded with jubilation, gratitude and hope as it commemorated twenty-five glorious years of academic brilliance, moral formation and unwavering Christ-centred service. Held under the inspiring Silver Jubilee theme, “My School, My Pride!”, it was a morning where cherished memory embraced luminous aspiration, and where a proud legacy stepped boldly towards an even more radiant future.

 

Roots of a Proud Legacy

Founded in 2002 under the visionary leadership of Bishop Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli, OFM Cap., and lovingly nurtured in its early years by the Comboni Sisters until 2008, St. Mary's Catholic High School was established to serve the educational aspirations of Fujairah's diverse international community. From its very inception the school championed academic excellence, introducing the GCSE (UK) curriculum in 2002 and the CBSE syllabus in 2003. In 2008, its administration was entrusted to the Salesians of Don Bosco of the Province of Chennai, India, renowned for their emphasis on discipline and holistic formation. Today, under the guidance of Bishop Paulo Martinelli, OFM Cap., and the Salesian Fathers, the school proudly offers both UK (GCSE / IGCSE, IAL) and Indian (CBSE) curricula to K–12 learners drawn from over forty nationalities. True to its cherished motto, “Finis Coronat Opus — The End Crowns the Work,” St. Mary's continues to unite rigorous international standards with enduring humanitarian values, standing as a radiant beacon of excellence and inclusivity in the educational landscape of Fujairah.

A Galaxy of Distinguished Dignitaries

The occasion was graced and sanctified by the august presence of the Chief Guest, His Excellency Bishop Paulo Martinelli, Bishop of Southern Arabia, whose benedictory presence lent the celebration a profound spiritual grandeur. The gathering was further enriched by an illustrious constellation of dignitaries, including Mr. Joseph Flynn, Managing Director of St. Mary's Group of Schools, who served as the esteemed Guest of Honour; the Secretary to the Bishop, Rev. Fr. Derrick; the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Wilffredo Atienza; Ms Marinella, Director of the Office of Communications; Ms Kate Flynn,

Director of the Office of Christian Formation; Mr. Paul Asir, Principal of St. Mary’s Catholic High School, Fujairah; Sister Terri, Director of St. Mary's, Ras Al Khaimah; and Sister Purnima, Director of St. Mary's, Dubai; together with distinguished representatives from the various institutions of St. Mary's across the Emirates.

A Symphony of Ceremony and Splendour

The programme commenced on a note of patriotic pride with the UAE National Anthem, followed by a serene Recitation from the Holy Quran and an invocatory Prayer led by Rev. Fr. Jayaraj M. A graceful Welcome Dance by the CBSE girls set the celebratory tone, after which Rev. Fr. Rozario Devadoss delivered a heartfelt Welcome Address. In a moment of singular significance, the resplendent Silver Jubilee Logo was ceremonially released amid warm felicitations by the Senior Leadership Team and Section Heads.

The auditorium then soared to euphoric heights as the School Choir rendered the soul-stirring Silver Jubilee Anthem. A dazzling cultural cavalcade followed — a vibrant Brazilian and Russian Cultural Dance by Grades 3 and 4, a witty and thought-provoking Skit by the boys of Grades 7 and 8, and a mesmerising Indian and Arabic Cultural Dance by the girls of Grades 5 to 9 — each performance a shimmering testament to the school's celebration of unity in glorious diversity.

 

Words of Wisdom and Blessing

The assembly was inspired by a stirring Address by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Joseph Flynn, who lauded the school's enduring legacy of excellence and its noble mission. The celebration then rose to its spiritual crescendo with the Address and Apostolic Blessing of His Excellency Bishop Paulo Martinelli, whose profound and paternal words illuminated the path ahead for the entire St. Mary's family. The ceremony drew to a graceful close with a gracious Vote of Thanks and the melodious rendition of the School Anthem.

A Tribute of Heartfelt Gratitude

This momentous milestone stands as a shining tribute to the visionary stewardship of Rev. Fr. Rozario Devadoss (Principal), Rev. Fr. Jayaraj M (Administrator) and Rev. Fr. Dominic Matthews (Rector), whose seamless collaboration and inspiring leadership ensured a flawless and memorable celebration. Profound gratitude is extended to the Senior Leadership Teams, Section Heads, devoted Teachers, supportive Parents and spirited Students, whose collective dedication transformed this inauguration into an unforgettable triumph of the St. Mary's spirit.

With hearts brimming with thanksgiving and eyes fixed upon a luminous future, the St. Mary's family now looks ahead with eager anticipation to the grand culmination of these festivities — the Silver Jubilee Celebration to be held on Friday, 22 January 2027 — a day destined to be inscribed in golden letters in the cherished annals of this esteemed institution.
