The evening of 15 February 2026 witnessed a vibrant and grace-filled gathering of the Salesian Family at Don Bosco, Katpadi, as members from various groups gathered around the Rector Major, Rev. Fr. Fabio Attard, SDB.
The programme began in a prayerful atmosphere and was enriched with cultural presentations that reflected the dynamism of the Salesian spirit. Representatives of the different branches of the Salesian Family - SDB, FMA, SMA, ASC, ADMA, Past Pupils, VDB, CDB and the Disciples of Jesus - came together in unity, manifesting the richness and diversity of the Salesian charism.
In his address, the Rector Major called for a renewed reflection on Salesian identity, insisting that to truly love Don Bosco, we must first know him deeply. He reminded the gathering that the Salesian charism is a response to the Holy Spirit and must be lived with seriousness and authenticity, fostering both qualitative and spiritual growth as the Family continues to expand. Reflecting on the Strenna, “Do Whatever He Tells You,” he invited all to look, listen, choose, and act like Mary at Cana - placing what we have into the hands of Jesus with generosity and trust.
A significant highlight of the evening was the awarding of certificates to the first batch of delegates of the Salesian Lay Leadership Programme (SLLP). The formation of lay leaders who play a significant role of co-responsibility in the mission was inspired by Fr. Fabio Attard two years ago, who offered guidance to the province team entrusted with the formation of lay people in keeping with GC 28. The two-year formative programme was designed and initiated by Don Bosco Kalvi Solai guided by a team of Salesian Formators and Educators.
Earlier, prior to this gathering, Fr. Fabio visited the FMA Sisters at Auxilium College. In his message to them, he affirmed that community life is a precious gift meant to be a living sign of joy, hope, and trust. When love and sharing are genuinely lived, the mission flourishes. Entrusting them to Mary Help of Christians, he encouraged them to renew their vocation with fresh zeal and confidence.
The evening’s gatherings thus stood as a visible expression of communion, gratitude, and renewed commitment — a reminder that the dream of Don Bosco continues to live vibrantly in the united witness of his spiritual sons and daughters.
